Visitors are now able to access Esalen as well as other businesses and trails in northern Big Sur via twice-daily convoys on Highway 1 operated by Caltrans.
Convoys run only at 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day. These are the only opportunities to travel into and out of Big Sur, so visitors must plan accordingly.

Amanda Giacomini is an artist and yoga teacher who is best known for her 10,000 Buddhas project. Inspired by ancient Buddhist artwork in the Ajanta caves in India, Amanda set out on a mission to paint 10,000 Buddhas. After a decade of painting, 10,000 Buddhas is a worldwide art project, including large scale murals, fine art paintings, works on paper, and textiles.
