Visitors are now able to access Esalen as well as other businesses and trails in northern Big Sur via twice-daily convoys on Highway 1 operated by Caltrans.
Convoys run only at 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day. These are the only opportunities to travel into and out of Big Sur, so visitors must plan accordingly.
We believe that a diverse mix of perspectives and experiences makes Esalen a more enriching experience for all involved. Our scholarship program, funded through the generosity of donors, lets us make Esalen accessible to anyone seeking to deepen their purpose, regardless of finances. Money should never stand in the way of human potential.
Esalen scholarships provide financial support for our public programs. Awards range from 50 to 90 percent of the cost of tuition and accommodations.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and demonstrate financial need.
Applications must be received at least 45 days prior to program start date.
Applications must include fiscal documentation as well as a personal essay outlining your intentions in participating in an Esalen program.
All scholarship applications will be reviewed by the Esalen Scholarship Committee. The committee’s mission is to increase accessibility to Esalen, regardless of financial capacity, and support individuals seeking to step into their potential.
Please email [email protected] with any additional questions, and allow five business days for a response.
