Visitors are now able to access Esalen as well as other businesses and trails in northern Big Sur via twice-daily convoys on Highway 1 operated by Caltrans.
Convoys run only at 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day. These are the only opportunities to travel into and out of Big Sur, so visitors must plan accordingly.

We live in an age of extraordinary access to information, and many of us are hungry for a deeper way back into our bodies and the felt experience of being alive. In this five-day workshop, you will explore what it means to move toward a more embodied, regenerative relationship with the world, one step, one breath, one element at a time.
The week is woven from two converging paths. One offers elemental meditation, mantra, and pranayama, with earth, water, fire, air, and space as direct doorways back into the body and nature. The other brings research on regeneration, tracked through what’s known as GDR, or Gross Domestic Regeneration, the practice of measuring what we build back rather than what we extract.
This workshop includes:
This workshop brings together contemplative practice and the leading edge of regenerative research, two paths holding the same conviction: that the shift we’re looking for won’t come from more thinking, but from more feeling. This is an invitation to practice that, together, on some of the most beautiful ground there is.
Beyond your time together, there will be ample free time to soak in Esalen’s natural hot springs, wander its cliffside gardens, rest, and take in everything else this remarkable land has to offer.

Join us in exploring Esalen’s historic, culture-shifting origins, the vision for human potential, and our core values, as we embark on another 60 years of transformational education. Prepare to learn, grow, experiment and evolve as we shepherd you on how best to integrate into this unique community and get the most out of your time on this sacred, ancient land.
The California Condor is more than North America's largest flying bird— it is a living testament to what becomes possible when a community refuses to give up. Join Cheryl Thiele of the Ventana Wildlife Society for an exploration of the condor's extraordinary journey from the brink of extinction back to the skies of Big Sur. Through stories of conservation, collaboration, and ecological renewal, we'll consider what this remarkable species might teach us about resilience, belonging, and hope.
Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing our world. These tools offer real possibilities for productivity and creativity, while raising many other serious questions. In this class, we’ll use Esalen’s lens of human potential to explore how to meet AI with discernment and a grounded sense of human value. The session has space for curiosity, skepticism, enthusiasm, concern, and everything in between.
