Visitors are now able to access Esalen as well as other businesses and trails in northern Big Sur via twice-daily convoys on Highway 1 operated by Caltrans.
Convoys run only at 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day. These are the only opportunities to travel into and out of Big Sur, so visitors must plan accordingly.

Jillian Pransky is an internationally renowned yoga therapist, mindfulness teacher, and author of The Power of the Pause and Deep Listening, whose work invites a return to presence, listening, and embodied awareness. She specializes in somatic practices, restorative yoga, meditation, and nervous system regulation, guiding students to soften, settle, and reconnect with the intelligence of the body and the wisdom of spirit.
Jillian has been teaching for over 30 years and her work is deeply influenced by more than 25 years of study with Pema Chödrön, whose teachings inform her emphasis on compassion, awareness, and meeting experience as it is.
Through gentle movement, stillness, and the cultivation of inner attention, she creates spaces where the nervous system can unwind and a more authentic sense of self can emerge.
Leading retreats and trainings worldwide, she offers practices that support resilience, ease, and meaningful connection—to oneself, to others, and to the present moment.
Her approach is subtle yet profound, inviting a slowing down into what is true, and a remembering of the wholeness that is already here.
