Whether after a rigorous workshop session or a long soak in the hot springs, a meal among friends in our Lodge is surely one of the most nourishing and enlivening Esalen adventures.
The Esalen kitchen serves delicious, healthy meals for our workshop participants and teachers as well as our residential community. The kitchen team, with the assistance of residential scholars, crafts each meal with mindfulness and care, featuring produce and herbs from the Esalen Farm & Garden.
Served buffet-style, options are available for omnivores, vegetarians and vegans at each meal. The kitchen is unable to provide individually-prepared meals for those on special diets. If you have a severe food allergy, please indicate this when you register for your stay.
Breakfast: 8:30 – 9:45 a.m.
Lunch: 12:30 – 1:45 p.m.
Sunday Brunch: 12:30 – 1:45 p.m.
Dinner: 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Bar: 7:00 – 11:00 a.m., 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Coffee, tea, house-made bread for toast, preserves, nut butters, and fresh fruit are available in the Lodge. The bread bar is stocked from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. and is accessible most any time of day or night, except during Lodge cleaning from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.
Volunteering in the Kitchen
On-site guests are always welcome to volunteer in the kitchen. Stop in and ask for the chef if you are interested in volunteering during your stay.
