Esalen opens May 3, 2024

Visitors are now able to access Esalen as well as other businesses and trails in northern Big Sur via twice-daily convoys on Highway 1 operated by Caltrans.

Convoys run only at 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day. These are the only opportunities to travel into and out of Big Sur, so visitors must plan accordingly.

Sascha von Meier

Sascha von Meier has been an active student and practitioner of Oscar Ichazo’s Integral Philosophy since 1982. As a member of teaching teams for numerous Arica trainings, she has facilitated group trainings and seminars, including the Fixations, since the 1990s. She is currently serving as President of the Arica Institute. 

Prior to her retirement in 2022, Sascha was an adjunct professor of electrical engineering at UC Berkeley. Her research and teaching have spanned a broad range of topics, from implementing renewable energy and modernizing the electric grid to the cognitive aspects of managing complex and hazardous technologies. The connecting thread in her academic work is the function of the human mind, particularly as applied to understanding physical and technical systems. An award-winning teacher, she is the author of a textbook on electric power systems. Sascha holds a BA in Physics and a PhD in Energy and Resources from UC Berkeley.

Throughout her four decades of research and classroom teaching experience, Sascha has practiced the application of Integral Philosophy in everyday life and professional settings, with the goal of promoting awareness and unity for the benefit of all.

Sascha von Meier is a retired professor of electrical engineering who has applied Oscar Ichazo’s Integral Philosophy to her life and professional work for over four decades.
