The deep work people do at Esalen stays with them after they leave. It travels home and reverberates outward into their relationships, communities, creative lives, and the way they move through the world.
Your support helps make this possible.
People arrive here carrying many things: questions, grief, burnout, longing, curiosity. They come from different places, cultures, and stages of life, but something happens here that connects them all.
We’re sharing stories of real people who came to Esalen at a moment when something in their lives was shifting, breaking open, or asking more of them than they could meet alone. These people did the work. And what they found here changed the way they moved through their lives long after returning home.
These stories aren’t exceptions. They’re the reason Esalen exists.

As nurses, Paras and Mike spend their days caring for others. They work long hours, support patients through some of life’s most difficult moments, and carry a level of responsibility that can be hard to imagine.
Like many caregivers, they can become so focused on helping everyone else that there is little time left to care for themselves — or for each other.
When Paras and Mike received a scholarship to attend Esalen® Massage and Energy Work, they traveled to Big Sur from San Jose for the opportunity to focus on themselves and each other.
What they received was much more than a class. They found time to slow down, listen to each other, and reconnect. Together, they learned new ways to be present with one another with practices they continue to carry into their everyday lives.
That’s the lasting power of a scholarship. It doesn’t simply provide access to our workshops. It creates the possibility for experiences that continue unfolding long after someone leaves Esalen. The impact doesn’t end when a workshop ends. It travels home with us.

As nurses, Paras and Mike spend their days supporting others through life’s most challenging moments. But when a scholarship brought them to Esalen, they were given something many caregivers rarely receive: the opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and be cared for themselves. Watch their story, witness their transformation, and see how the impact of a scholarship continues long after a workshop ends.

She keeps coming back to see what else is possible.

He didn’t think connection was possible, until he felt it.

He gives back to the place that helped shape him.

She learned transformation begins inside the body.

They came to mark a moment. They left having shared many.

Not everyone who feels called to this work can afford to come.
Scholarships open the door for many to drop into an experience.
Transformation continues long after a workshop ends.
It carries on into their relationships, their work, and their communities.
Help someone begin a journey they will carry with them forever.
