Visitors are now able to access Esalen as well as other businesses and trails in northern Big Sur via twice-daily convoys on Highway 1 operated by Caltrans.
Convoys run only at 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day. These are the only opportunities to travel into and out of Big Sur, so visitors must plan accordingly.

Stephanie Nosco is a somatic educator, Qigong teacher, and trained counselor whose work explores the meeting point of Chinese medicine, contemplative practice, and embodied storytelling. Through Qigong and somatic inquiry, she investigates how emotion, perception, and energetic patterning shape the inner landscape of the body and influence our capacity for healing and meaning.
Drawing from the five elements and classical Chinese organ theory, Stephanie guides participants in cultivating deeper listening to sensation, emotion, and imagination as pathways of self-understanding. Her approach integrates ancient energetic maps with contemporary somatic awareness, creating practices that support regulation, resilience, and personal transformation.
Stephanie teaches internationally, leads silent Qigong and meditation retreats, and is the author of Follow Your Tao, a contemporary exploration of the emotional and spiritual dimensions of the organs in Chinese medicine. Her work invites participants into a lived experience of the body as a source of insight, creativity, and connection.
