Due to road closures along Highway 1 to our north and south, Esalen is closed through April 11.
Esalen Institute is open! However, Highway 1 to the south is closed — please review the current travel advisory.

Esalen opens May 3, 2024

Visitors are now able to access Esalen as well as other businesses and trails in northern Big Sur via twice-daily convoys on Highway 1 operated by Caltrans.

Convoys run only at 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day. These are the only opportunities to travel into and out of Big Sur, so visitors must plan accordingly.

Jun Wang

Jun Wang, PhD, is a committed scholar-practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine and contemplative arts, including qigong, taijiquan, meditation, and guqin music. She is an associate professor and core faculty in the Department of East-West Psychology at CIIS, where her teaching and research focus on Daoist life cultivation, Chinese body-mind healing systems, and Chinese philosophy and psychology. She is the author of Cultivating Qi: An Introduction to Chinese Body-Mind Energetics (North Atlantic Books, 2011), with more than 25 years of teaching Qigong and Taijiquan in universities and community settings.

Jun Wang is a core faculty member in East-West Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies and the author of Cultivating Qi: An Introduction to Chinese Body-Mind Energetics, with over 25 years of teaching Qigong and Taijiquan in universities.
