Bhakti Yoga Summer Gathering

July 6, 2026
July 6–10, 2026

Join us at Esalen — where land, sky, and sea meet — and gather at the height of summer in devotion to movement, music, and one another.

This retreat is a celebration of bhakti: the yoga of love made tangible through asana, chanting, rhythm, story, and shared presence. Together, we’ll practice beneath the sun, listen to the waves, and let the natural beauty of this place remind us what it means to belong.

Guided by Janet Stone and DJ Drez, our days will weave strong and soulful yoga practice with music, mantra, mythology, and moments of stillness. We’ll sing, move, dance, rest, and remember — creating space to reaffirm intention, soften the nervous system, and reconnect with what matters most.

At the edge of the continent, we’ll turn both inward and outward to honor cycles of light and shadow, effort and surrender, solitude and community. This is a gathering designed to be felt as much as practiced.

Come as you are. Bring your mat, your voice, your curiosity, and your willingness to be moved by the land, by the music, and by the bonds we will form together.

This workshop includes an additional $175

Nature and Contemplation: Cultivating Wild Mindfulness

July 6–10, 2026

I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass, how to be idle and blessed.
— Mary Oliver

From the beginning of time, the natural world has invited humans to pause, reflect, and reconnect with life’s essence. This workshop offers an opportunity to immerse yourself in Big Sur’s awe-inspiring wilderness and the art of authentic contemplation. Together, we will deepen our awareness of the wilds within and around us, rediscovering the simple yet profound practice of being fully present and alive.

Big Sur’s stunning landscapes — rugged cliffs, ocean breezes, and ancient forests — will serve as both our setting and our teacher. Through mindful awareness and direct experience, we can awaken our inherent connection to the elemental, allowing the magnificence of this wild world to touch our bodies, minds, and spirits.

Highlights of the Week

Nature as Teacher: Direct experience of the elements — earth beneath your feet, Pacific waves crashing, fresh coastal air, and Esalen’s healing hot springs — awakening the senses and inviting relationship with an animate world.

Daily Wilderness Hikes: Explore Big Sur’s natural beauty and rich ecological diversity through daily hikes of approximately 2–6 miles across varied terrain.

Contemplative Practices: Engage in timeless and contemporary practices of mindfulness, movement, and stillness, cultivating presence, aliveness, and deeper relationship with self, others, and the wild.

Community Connection: Share nourishing meals, heartfelt conversations, and moments of silence, fostering a sense of belonging with one another and with the living world around us.

Integration and Simplicity: Discover ways to bring what touches you here into daily life, with space for reflection on how to do less, be more, and live in alignment with what matters most.

This week is an invitation to slow down, step out of habitual patterns, and show up fully for life as it unfolds, moment by moment. Whether walking, sitting, or simply being, we will cultivate space, silence, and stillness to meet the beauty and mystery of the world — within and without.

Come ready to explore the meeting places of mountain and sea, inner and outer landscapes, and the boundless wildness of existence.

Please note: This workshop will be a larger, nature-based group experience than Steven and Gary typically lead. Mornings will be spent together as a full group, either indoors or on the Esalen grounds. After lunch, we will divide into smaller groups to explore Big Sur’s wilderness trails, returning in time for dinner at Esalen.

All levels of experience are welcome; however, a moderate level of physical fitness is recommended. Expect afternoon day hikes of approximately 2–6 miles, often with elevation gain and loss on occasionally rugged or steep terrain. These are not fast-paced or goal-driven hikes, but they do require physical engagement. Participants should be comfortable with outdoor activity and open to contemplative practices, including periods of pausing, listening, stillness, and quiet reflection.

Additional information, including a waiver, will be sent upon registration. For an equipment list and frequently asked questions about Steven’s workshops, please visit the FAQs.

An additional $40 will be added to the workshop cost to cover permit and park entrance fees

July 10–12, 2026

How empowered do you feel as a woman navigating this world? What is your relationship to the feminine? And to female wisdom? Join us inside the Moon Lodge, a place for exploration — for women to find tribal and ritual healing.

The 5Rhythms is a map that teaches us how energy moves. It shows us the patterns, rhythms, and cycles of life — Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness — and can be a direct path to the embodiment and empowerment many of us do not feel in a time of patriarchy.

This workshop will be about celebrating the body of Woman and the sacred feminine within us all. Through dance, meditation, massage, acupressure, and ritual baths, we will share in the Sisterhood of humanity. We will poultice our wounds and celebrate the great gifts of our ancestors.

This workshop includes:

  • 5Rhythms moving meditation
  • Mindfulness meditation
  • Restorative acupressure techniques
  • Women’s health practices
  • Women’s counsel
  • Group sharing

Julie Von, a specialist in women’s health, will present the Chinese Medicine perspective on the five elements, psychosomatic process, restorative acupuncture, and self-care. She will teach us to prioritize these pillars and recognize when we are out of balance.

Lucia Horan will integrate the stillness of Buddhist mindfulness meditation with the moving meditations of the 5Rhythms®. In sitting meditation, we have the opportunity to observe the mind and body at rest through silent introspection. In the practice of the 5Rhythms, we engage in mindfulness while in motion. Together, these two polarities mirror the dance of life and open the door to peace, well-being, and balance.

Biological Gods: Evolution and the Coming Superhumans
July 10–12, 2026
July 10–12, 2026
July 10, 2026
July 10–12, 2026

Humanity is a transitional species, poised on a tightrope between the primate past on the one end and the coming, future “superhumans” on the other.

What is right about this image? What is wrong with it? Who, historically, has been excluded from it? Can we, should we, speak of human exceptionalism or not? And perhaps most of all: what role does language, myth, and story play in our species’ evolution? Is human evolution a matter of how we imagine ourselves and one another to be? Do mental acts have material effects? Can symbols alter reality?

This workshop will explore the historical precedents, moral anxieties, and new realities of “spiritual evolution.” We will cover a range of topics, including Darwin, Nietzsche, Aurobindo, Sylvia Wynter, psychedelics, and biology. We’ll continuously come back to the present, to Esalen itself, and ask whether we ourselves might be participating in, or even effecting, a new worldview.

The basic orientation of the workshop is to “turn around”: from believing “backwards” in someone else’s understanding of, and place in the cosmos, toward an imagined, future relationship to the universe for which no adequate language yet exists. This workshop will be about helping to create such a language — that of the superhuman.

**This seminar is part of the Super Story Series, sponsored by the Center for Theory and Research (CTR) at Esalen Institute. The series includes three thematic cycles: The Physics of Mystics, The Soul Is a UFO, and this current seminar, Biological Gods. The Super Story is a poetic and conceptual framework designed to capture the mythic and mystical narratives that have emerged over the last two centuries in deep resonance with evolving paradigms in physics, evolutionary biology, cosmology, and idealist philosophy. This project situates personal transformation within a larger cosmological and cultural re-enchantment, connecting the individual’s inner experiences to the macro-myths of science and spirit.

This workshop works with the deepest levels of ontology, before and beyond any human concepts of god. Keeping an open mind during this workshop is highly recommended.

When we experience moments of ecstasy, we taste what life is meant to be. — Gabrielle Roth

The 5Rhythms® maps hold all the information required to lead us where we want to go. What is your destination? There is a science to achieving ecstatic states, and this is the mastery we have come to share. This workshop is designed for all who want to discover these possibilities for entering altered states in a natural way.

“I want to take you to a place of pure magic … It’s the place athletes call ‘the zone.’ Buddhists call ‘satori’ and ravers call ‘trance.’ I call it the Silver Desert. It’s a place of pure light that holds the dark within it. It’s a place of pure rhythm,” wrote Gabrielle Roth. Her dance and somatic meditation can assist you in navigating your way out of resistance and into ecstasy and help you build a skill set that supports balance, ease, and joy. If you have been looking to increase appreciation, gratitude, and happiness, now is a perfect time to celebrate being alive in the wild, wondrous, natural beauty of Esalen.

This course will include:

  • 5Rhythms dance both indoors and outside by daylight and moonlight
  • Trauma-sensitive mindfulness, including Dharma talks, sitting and walking meditations

Lucia and Douglas, the dancing duo, invite you to join them for a week of dance and celebration. Together with our team of musicians, bring you inspiration through movement and mindfulness so you can return home feeling nurtured and alive.

Leah Song of Rising Appalachia will lead a collective community song practice! Join voices and feel the collective power of unity through song and breath!

Sanga of the Valley, master drummer and living embodiment of the 5Rhythms cosmology, will be joining along with musical savant Nick Ayers.

In the midst of darkness, light persists. — Mahatma Gandhi

The practice of yoga takes each of us on an interiorizing journey. Step by step we move from the outer and reactive body-mind towards the inner witnessing light of the Self. Here, we observe without judging or running away from sensations, thoughts or memories. The result is active, patient Presencing, which informs all we do and all we are.

Come for a weekend of deep, intelligent yoga surrounded by the natural beauty found at Esalen. Each practice will be a potent mix of essential alignment: body to breath, breath to energy and energy to Self. Each practitioner will be gently guided and adjusted to their own personal edge — the place where we are able to see, know, and be our truest selves. Our yoga will be strong, but infinitely adaptable to everyone’s current needs and abilities. Yoga’s strength is measured in one’s ability to stay focused and present.

Each practice will be a balance of breathwork, active and restorative asana, and meditation, blended together for a clear theme to release old patterns and awaken us to what is — like cleaning the windows to let the sunlight shine in.

Designing Warmth: A Human-Centered Approach to Connection and Collective Well‑Being
July 17–19, 2026
July 17–19, 2026
July 17, 2026
July 17–19, 2026

Warmth is a connecting principle. Somehow the barriers come down when warmth is involved. — Pema Chödrön

Warmth is a powerful and essential component of human connection, prioritized by the biological brain and spiritual heart alike.

To thrive, we humans need to experience interconnectedness between ourselves and the world around us. Psychologist Abraham Maslow described this as “the pinnacle of human experience,” and former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy called it “as essential to our well-being as food and water.” Yet today, nearly 40% of American adults report significant loneliness or isolation, increasing risks of depression, heart disease, dementia, and early death. In a world increasingly shaped by disconnection, how might we intentionally design for warmth, connection, and transparency?

This workshop invites you to explore how designing for warmth — in your relationships, your work, and your communities — can build stronger, healthier, and more connected individuals and communities.

Over the weekend, we’ll explore the science, philosophy, and spirituality of warmth while examining how connection is either supported or undermined by the structure of our relationships, organizations, and communities. We will explore how warmth can be designed into everyday interactions and larger social and professional contexts — supporting trust, openness, and a felt sense of being seen and valued.

We’ll balance theoretical inquiry with practical experience for both intellectual grounding and embodied insight. Together, we’ll examine how warmth is currently designed — or absent — in our lives and experiment with new ways of shaping relational environments with greater intention.

Freedom Dreaming: How Daydreaming and Imagination Open a Portal for a Liberated Life

July 17–19, 2026

Daydreaming is not passive; it is an embodied, living practice—a gateway to knowledge, interconnectedness, and liberation. It is where we access deep creativity, ancestral memory, and the unseen forces shaping our lives. Across time and tradition, rest, reverie, and imagination have been essential tools for visionaries, artists, and revolutionaries. Yet in a culture that prioritizes relentless output, our capacity to dream freely has been diminished, treated as frivolous or unproductive. But what if we reclaim daydreaming as an act of defiance? What if rest itself is resistance? Tricia Hersey, artist, theologian, and author of Rest is Resistance and We Will Rest, has built a framework that understands rest as a portal to a world beyond grind culture—a world where imagination and care are central to our well-being and collective liberation.

Join us for a weekend of radical rest and reclamation, where we will gather on the sacred lands of the Esselen people to explore the art and science of daydreaming as a form of rest. Through individual and collective activations, writing practices, and deep study of the works of bell hooks, Audre Lorde, Octavia Butler, and Tricia herself, we will reclaim imagination as a birthright, not a luxury. We will stretch out under the open sky in collective rest, listening to the wisdom of the land, the ocean, and the cosmos. We will slow down and wander, walking the gardens and feeling our way back to an ancient rhythm. We will engage in guided star-gazing, reflective journaling, and intentional dreaming, allowing spaciousness to show us what we have forgotten. This is not about productivity. It is not about optimization. It is about restoration. About remembering. About laying it all down so something new can emerge. You don’t need permission to dream—you just need space, stillness, and the courage to stop and receive. We will rest.

Recommended reading: Love as the Practice of Freedom by Bell Hooks, Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler, Rest is Resistance: A Manifesto by Tricia Hersey, and selected poetry of Audre Lorde

Special Note on Gift Economy:  For this workshop, Esalen will not be collecting the typical leader fees. Tricia embraces the practice of the gift economy, collective economics and reciprocity. The leader’s compensation will be self-determined by each attendee. At the end of the workshop, participants will offer a donation amount that reflects their feeling of gratitude, value, and desire to support Tricia and her ongoing work of community care, liberation and rest.

Engaging with Beauty as a Pathway to Resilience Through the Mindful Viewing of Film
July 20–24, 2026
July 20–24, 2026
July 20, 2026
July 20–24, 2026

Through mindful viewing of eight memorable feature films, participants will engage with cinematic beauty to open their hearts for a pathway to resilience. Recent studies from neuroaesthetics have shown that experiencing beauty can activate the brain’s emotional processing centers, which are critical for resilience; research in positive psychology has identified “appreciation of beauty and excellence” as correlated with life satisfaction. Through seminal films in which characters experience beauty as a path to resilient well-being — masterpieces directed by Jean Renoir, Satyajit Ray, Martin Scorsese, Agnès Varda, David Lean, Sydney Pollack, and more — participants will enter deep contemplative experiences. By mindfully viewing these films, we will engage with beauty, much like the protagonists, figures, heroes, and heroines portrayed on screen.

This workshop employs methods developed over the course of 28 film seminars at Esalen co-led by Francis Lu and Brother David Steindl-Rast: mindful film viewing, contemplative reflection, and group interaction focused on the participant’s unique experience of carefully curated cinema. In the words of Joseph Campbell, “the images of myths are reflections of the spiritual and depth potentialities of every one of us….Through contemplating those, we evoke their powers in our own lives to operate through ourselves.” The viewing experience is supported by 4K Blu-ray projection on a large screen and surround sound delivered through six loudspeakers.

5.5 CE Credits for Health Professionals are available for an additional $35 fee payable to the workshop leader. Click here for details. For further information about the workshop, please contact Francis Lu, MD, at francislumd@gmail.com

Join us for this weeklong wild clay pottery intensive. As a group, we will go through the process of making pottery from the wild, including processing clay, mixing wild clays, and finding and testing clay in the field. We’ll learn how to hand-build pots using various techniques, including pinch pots, slab work, coil and scrape, corrugation, and more. We will find and refine mineral paints from the landscape and make our yucca brushes to design and paint our pots with our own artistic expressions. Finally, we’ll prepare a kiln to fire the pots and go over several different methods for firing earthenware pottery.

Together, we’ll enjoy daily discussions about the metaphysical nature  of pottery, working with the clay, and balancing the elements. We will slow the process down to see what lessons emerge and what energy and opportunities the materials draw from us, both as individuals and as a group — an opportunity for personal growth and team building through the creation process!

While seated on the grounds of Esalen, we will connect to and draw inspiration from the landscape and the ancient ones who came before us and may have also made pots for function and beauty with the same materials long ago.

July 20–24, 2026

Breath matters. It is one of the few human capacities that is at once biological, cultural, and sacred. Every breath connects physiology with perception — and with our shared search for meaning. It is a physiological necessity, a regulator of attention and awareness, and a primary medium through which humans have explored consciousness across time.

Co-led by an embodiment educator and a neuroscientist–anthropologist, this five-day immersion offers a rare opportunity to engage breath through sustained inquiry, comparative reflection, and dialogue, alongside direct embodied practice. Drawing from long-standing contemplative canons and contemporary research on meditation, psychedelics, and the brain, the week examines how breath has been theorized, disciplined, ritualized, and transmitted — through text and instruction, as well as ceremony, sound, rhythm, and collective experience.

Throughout the week, participants will engage in:

  • Guided breath practices, including classical yogic pranayama, paced and ratio breathing, rhythmic and circular breathing patterns, and group-based ceremonial sessions. These practices allow participants to experience firsthand how different breathing structures shape physiology, perception, and collective states.
  • Structured dialogue on breath, trance, and ritual traditions, along with discussion of current research in meditation, psychedelics, and the neuroscience of breathing. Conversations situate lived experience within broader historical and scientific frameworks.
  • Simple self-assessments drawn from contemplative research to build shared language and refine awareness of physiological, emotional, and attentional shifts. Tools from the laboratory become instruments for disciplined self-observation rather than external measurement.
  • Yoga and movement sessions integrating breath with posture, alignment, and sensory awareness. These sessions explore how breath operates within the musculoskeletal and nervous systems in real time.
  • Collective sound and rhythm practices examining entrainment and group coherence. Participants explore how synchronized breath and vocalization influence attention, affect, and social connection.
  • Periods of intentional silence for integration and reflection, creating space for consolidation, insight, and embodied processing.

This offering is for those curious not only about how breath works, but how humans have studied, practiced, and transmitted it — and what becomes possible when inquiry, practice, and presence are held together in the same room.

July 24–27, 2026

Imagine that your body has a voice. What would it say?

The body speaks through movement, where each breath, feeling, and memory becomes a metaphor — a living story longing to be heard and danced. Begin by digging, fearlessly and with tenderness, into the fertile soil of soft skin. Touch bone. Listen to the heart, fluttering its wings against the ribs. Pluck your veins as if they were strings on a violin, playing an ancient universal rhythm.

This workshop is an invitation to return to the wisdom of the body. To listen, to express, to transform. Rooted in the Life/Art Process® developed by Anna and Daria Halprin, we will journey through movement, drawing, poetic narrative, and improvisation as pathways toward personal meaning, healing, and creative renewal.

Each day will unfold as a ritual: breath becomes rhythm, movement becomes story. We will explore what moves through us, both individually and collectively. Held within the wild beauty of Esalen, and accompanied by the live music of guest musician Miles Lassi, we will explore deeply, play wildly, and harvest what we find. No prior experience in dance or art is needed, only a willingness to express, feel, and listen.

Originating in the 1950s, the Halprin work has played a pivotal role in the groundbreaking human potential, postmodern dance, and healing arts movements, and has been offered at Esalen since the 1960s.

July 24–26, 2026

Through mindful viewing of four classic motion pictures filled with color/music/dance, participants will open their hearts to profound cinematic beauty. This seminar offers an enhanced mindfulness experience through films directed by Jacques Demy, Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen, and Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger filled with cinematic beauty involving color/music/dance. These films are presented for the purpose of evoking similar discoveries in the lives of the workshop participants.

This workshop employs methods developed over the course of 28 film seminars at Esalen, co-led by Francis Lu and Brother David Steindl-Rast, including mindful film viewing, contemplative reflection, and group interaction focused on the participants’ unique experiences. In the words of Joseph Campbell, “the images of myths are reflections of the spiritual and depth potentialities of every one of us….Through contemplating those, we evoke their powers in our own lives to operate through ourselves.” The viewing experience is supported by 4K Blu-ray projection on a large screen and surround sound delivered by six loudspeakers.

July 24–26, 2026

This workshop invites you to enjoy Esalen in the summertime as you practice foundational skills in our famed massage modality. Silvia and Lori will guide you in this experience of mindful touch translated to the massage table. Through lectures, brief demonstrations, and supervised practice, they will introduce the basics: quality of touch, rapport, massage skills with “the listening hand” and effective body mechanics.

The slow-paced practice of Esalen massage sets the stage for a pleasurable natural healing process to emerge, rather than any focus on “fixing.”  You will learn how to drape and how to easily apply Esalen’s signature integrative strokes, detail,  gentle stretches, with a concluding pause. You will be encouraged to effectively share your experience. You may even enjoy giving a massage  as much as receiving one.

Classroom tools include exercises designed to awaken the senses and illuminate the value of boundaries in healing work, demonstrations, and tableside guidance tailored specifically for your experience level. The class is appropriate for the new and curious as well as the professional seeking to refresh their senses and the quality of their touch.

10 hours of continuing education provided by the faculty through Esalen Massage and Bodywork Association Teachers. For more information on CE email EMBA@esalen.org.

Designing The Life We Want: Self Renewal in the Summer
July 27–31, 2026
July 27–31, 2026
July 27, 2026
July 27–31, 2026

Have you created the impact you want? Are you showing up the way you’d like? Are you going in the right direction? You have never before been where you are right now. You have never been the age you are today, never had the experiences you now possess. This is your time to pause and reflect. We rarely allow ourselves the opportunity to stop and look at what is changing — or discover what we truly need to feel fulfilled.

This very interactive workshop will include lots of experiential exercises. Though we will cover valuable theory and there will be plenty of reflection time, this will not be a series of talks/lectures. There will be movement, coaching, a little dance, and lots of opportunity to share insights. Active participation is strongly encouraged; however, participation will always be voluntary.

Our goal is to step back from our lives and renew. We will create a courageous community to challenge, nurture and express ourselves. Participants will have the opportunity to learn what brings them joy and purpose, and then cultivate a vision to serve as a foundation for both the next year and next phase of life.

We will engage in a progression of individual and group exercises focused on reflection, movement, and listening to our inner wisdom. We’ll discover how to navigate major life transitions and learn skills to access our intuition. We will uncover the behaviors that support our overall success, and reveal which ones undermine our goals and fulfillment. If you are passionate about having a more powerful and authentic impact on the world around you, this program of renewal will be especially valuable.

July 27–31, 2026

Power without surrender is force. Surrender without power is collapse. True freedom comes from knowing how to embody both.

BDSM is often misunderstood as only rough sex or kink, but at its core, it’s the consensual exploration of power dynamics. It can include play with dominance and submission, sensation, and restraint — but ultimately, it’s about trust, communication, and the courage to feel deeply.

In this experiential workshop, we’ll explore power and surrender as embodied states, not just ideas. Using the Wheel of Consent® as our foundation, we’ll uncover how these dynamics show up in our desires, boundaries, and interactions. Through guided exercises, movement, and deep noticing, you’ll gain tools to navigate these energies with clarity and confidence — in erotic and everyday contexts.

You’ll be invited to:

  • Engage in structured practices to embody power, surrender, and choice.
  • Explore the emotions, sensations, and meanings behind these states.
  • Use breath, sound, and movement to expand your awareness.
  • Practice dynamics like take/allow, serve/accept, and lead/follow.
  • Discover how power and surrender can bring connection, agency, and pleasure.
  • Develop a deeper trust in yourself — unafraid of power, unafraid of surrender, and ready to claim both.

This workshop is somatic and participatory, with options to learn through touch and simple props like rope or blindfolds. All participation is optional — your consent always leads the way.

Please Note: This workshop will not include:

  • Nudity
  • Sexual activity
  • BDSM technique tutorials
  • Anything you do not enthusiastically consent to

This workshop includes an additional $50 of faculty tuition.

July 27–31, 2026

Imagine reaching the end and realizing your biggest regret is that you never found the courage to live authentically because you lived the life others expected. In this workshop, we will embark on a transformative journey inspired by the wisdom of Human Design and the spirit of Esalen. Human Design blends ancient wisdom from astrology, the I Ching, the Kabbalah, and the Hindu-Brahmin chakra system with cutting-edge insights from quantum physics to create a holistic system of self-knowledge.

We’ll explore ways to embrace our true selves, understand our inner guidance system, make wise choices, and unlock our highest potential. Practical applications will include daily decision-making, personal development, and enhancing relationships. We’ll also engage in embodiment practices, integration practices, and interactive sessions to deepen understanding.

This workshop invites you to embrace your authenticity and discover your potential. By loving your true self, following your inner authority, making wise choices, and understanding your greater purpose, you can transform your life.

Participants must bring the specifics of their birth, including their birthplace and time, along with a journal. Join us in mastering authentic living to unlock your potential within a supportive community.

Moving Beyond Codependency: Honoring the Sovereign Self in Relationship
July 31 – August 2, 2026
July 31 – August 2, 2026
July 31, 2026
July 31 – August 2, 2026

Longstanding relationship structures are now being questioned in ways that are both liberating and disorienting. As inherited models rooted in codependency, people-pleasing, and rigid roles lose their authority, many of us find ourselves at a threshold, no longer willing to sacrifice sovereignty for belonging, yet unsure how to relate outside of familiar and societal patterns. This moment invites a deeper inquiry: How do we stay connected without losing ourselves? What new forms of intimacy, partnership, and community might emerge when relationships are no longer organized around survival?

During this weekend intensive, we will explore how societal conditioning has shaped our ideas of partnership — including the belief that we are incomplete without one, or that a relationship’s end signals failure. We will consider what becomes possible as codependent patterns, limiting beliefs, and outdated gender roles are released, and examine the challenges that arise when attachment is prioritized over individuality. Together, we will explore how relationships of all kinds can be approached as a reciprocal space of healing rooted in sovereignty.

This workshop will support you in:

  • Recognizing and moving past societal conditioning toward authentic intimacy.
  • Balancing the need for belonging and self sovereignty, while releasing fear-based relating.
  • Integrating the masculine (structural) and feminine (aliveness) energetics existing within all of us, regardless of how we identify in terms of gender.
  • Showing up to your community and relationships with a deeper sense of sovereignty.

If you find yourself standing at a relational threshold — ready to release old patterns yet uncertain about what may come next — join us for an exploration of connection grounded in clarity and self-authorship and discover an expansive framework rooted in the space of sovereignty.

Recoding the Matrix of Your Reality in the Quantum Age
July 31 – August 2, 2026
July 31 – August 2, 2026
July 31, 2026
July 31 – August 2, 2026

Through eastern mysticism, quantum physics, psychedelics, and films like The Matrix, we are starting to catch on that “reality” may not be as it seems.

In this workshop, you’ll be guided to develop the x-ray vision needed to see beyond the concrete circumstances of your life to peer into the underlying “code” that is responsible for the tangles holding you back. Once identified, you will be empowered to shift that code through a beautiful process of quantum alchemy.

With a background in AI, neuroscience, Eastern religion, and psychology, Sam Rader has devoted the last 28 years to discovering the energetic patterns that run our lives. Often these patterns are manifestations that were programmed during the first five years of life. Understanding our source code allows us to quickly and gently get to the root of core issues, so we can shift our energy and embodiment to shift our world.

Many say discovering your source code is like a psychedelic experience— yet much more gentle and precise. With no ingestion of substances, no catharsis, no drama, and nothing overwhelming, this is a subtle yet profound journey —  a deep dive beneath our ordinary consciousness — to radically reconfigure ourselves and our reality.

In this workshop, you will be guided to dissolve and resolve anything standing in the way of becoming the fullest you and living your true expression of love, joy, and ease.

The latest research clearly demonstrates the powerful impact emotional experiences have on our health and longevity. While we know this to be true, we don’t always know how to be emotionally well.

During this weekend, we’ll open the door to greater emotional intelligence and perception. With a combination of lectures, interactive exercises, live music, breathwork, movement (yoga and dance), and meditation, we’ll practice understanding our feelings — and how to respond to them.

We’ll explore emotional wellness through the lens of Ayurveda, customizing our healing based on what we are experiencing in real time. This, in turn, increases our depth of connection with ourselves and others.

In this experiential workshop, we’ll be invited to learn Ayurvedic approaches to:

  • Emotional wellness
  • Self-assessment
  • Psychospiritual healing
  • Customizing healing tools

Movement will be guided by guest faculty Sunshine Zerda, featuring a transformational dance experience with somatic release. Everyone, from beginners to advanced students of Ayurveda, is welcome.

Yoga Nidra Retreat: Rest, Restore, and Remember Who You Are
August 3–7, 2026

August 3, 2026
August 3–7, 2026

Experience five days of deep rest, reflection, and rejuvenation through movement, guided meditation, and the profound practice of Yoga Nidra. This workshop is designed to restore the body, clear the mind, and shift the habitual patterns that keep us from experiencing a state of calm, clarity, and balance.

Yoga Nidra, which translates to "yogic sleep," guides you to that liminal state between wakefulness and sleep, where you can systematically release stored physical, emotional, and mental tensions. In this state, you can let go of old beliefs and habits that keep you stuck in the past and fearful of the future.

With this practice, you can fully experience your emotions while knowing that there is unchanging, unshakable ground beneath you — a calm inner presence that allows you to see clearly and navigate life with greater ease.

Throughout the retreat, we will work with our bodies and minds, creating clear intentions to shift from living by unconscious, automatic programming and find a new perspective — an aware, deliberate way of being. You'll explore how to bring this newfound awareness of your true self into your personal life, relationships, work, and moments of solitude and love.

Together, we will cultivate new tools to help us navigate when we feel lost, tired, or confused and forget who we are. These guiding instruments can help us negotiate life's challenges, welcome them as opportunities, and remember our true nature.

This workshop is a unique opportunity to recognize your wholeness, the truth of who you are, and the inner peace that has always been within you — that unchanging, unshakable ground of being that you are. All that is being asked of you is to show up, lie down, and let go. Yoga Nidra will do the rest.

What to bring: blankets, a yoga mat, an eye pillow, and anything else you need to lie comfortably on the floor for extended periods. We'll also have opportunities to practice outdoors, so make sure you have layers to stay comfortable in varying conditions.

Heal Yourself with Ayurveda
August 3–7, 2026
August 3–7, 2026

August 3–7, 2026

The body doesn’t need to be forced into healing — it needs the interference removed and the conditions restored. Most of us have been taught to approach health one symptom at a time. But what if there’s a deeper order — a way to work with your body’s systems that cultivates relief and lasting change?

This five-day immersive workshop offers a new framework for your wellness strategy. You’ll be guided through the Mohan Method, a sequential approach that addresses health from the ground up: clearing disruptors, restoring nutrients, repairing digestion, calibrating metabolism, and redesigning the patterns that shape your daily life. Each day explores one phase through self-assessment, natural remedies, somatic practices, and live music and movement led by Sunshine Zerda and QVLN.

During this workshop, you will:

  • Learn body systems thinking that expands beyond conventional symptom management into root-cause awareness.
  • Explore natural remedies and Ayurvedic protocols aligned with each phase — from clearing environmental toxins to supporting hormone balance through lifestyle and herbs.
  • Practice somatic integration and movement to embody each phase, allowing the learning to land in your tissues, not just your mind.
  • Assess your own patterns using simple, accessible tools that reveal where your system may be stuck.
  • Redesign your relationship to health with clarity, agency, and a framework you can return to long after you leave Big Sur.

Walk away with practical knowledge, integrative tools, and a personalized roadmap for your wellness strategy—combining the power of Ayurveda, body systems thinking, and emotional wellness to create sustainable change in how you feel.

Embracing the Divine Feminine: A Mystical Approach
August 3–7, 2026
August 3–7, 2026
August 3, 2026
August 3–7, 2026

Imagine reconnecting with a part of you – the Divine Feminine – that brings you back into balance and harmony with yourself and all your relations. This transformative workshop combines social and political knowledge, energy- and earth-based practices, and embodiment exercises to help you release fears, resentment, and pain while inviting intuition, surrender, and flow to create a deeper sense of wholeness in your life. By decolonizing wellness and coming into right relationship with all living things, genuine healing becomes possible.

*The workshop is open to people of all gender identities and expressions.*

At the root of social, political, and economic inequities between men and women is the patriarchal culture’s colonial denigration of femininity. This central conflict in our society is something we learn at an early age and carry in our emotional, perceptual, sensory, and physical selves. Embracing femininity benefits not only women and femmes. Femininity is a spiritual energy and quality of the universe that is necessary to balance and restore us all. The Feminine Principle includes qualities like allowing, intuition, patience, nurturing, connection, mother love, and the generative principle of life itself.

During the workshop, you will experience:

  • Heart-centered journeys to connect with the energy of Mother.
  • Light movement with breath, body, earth, and trees.
  • Teaching sessions for frameworks of understanding.
  • Creative writing for self-reflection and expression
  • Group dialogue for connection and affirmation.
  • A closing ceremony and celebration to set intentions and launch a new path.

This workshop is an opportunity to see beyond the distortions of heteropatriarchy to something truer about ourselves where our heart’s desires are not at odds with one another. To connect with the Divine Feminine can be a balm and antidote that heals the instilled resentments, hostility, and fear that divide us.
