Workshop Details

Join teachers and authors of Awakening Joy For Kids James Baraz and Michele Lilyanna to explore fun, practical, and creative ways to bring mindfulness and social-emotional learning to you and the precious children in your lives.
James, a former classroom teacher and well respected mindfulness meditation teacher, will share how you can nurture yourself and apply mindfulness principles to support true well-being. Michele, a classroom teacher with 30 years of experience and a mother of two grown sons, will share how she uses mindfulness and the Awakening Joy principles in the classroom and at home. She’ll share many lessons and fun activities she developed and field-tested. Both teachers will offer parenting tips that can create more ease and connectedness in your family. The weekend will give you many practices that you can take home with you and deepen your family relationships.
Note: Children are invited to this workshop, which is designed for parents and children between 6 and 12 years old, and anyone who works with kids, including teachers and grandparents. Some sessions include parents and kids sharing the material together and other sessions when parents will work with one leader and kids with the other. Fees for children 10 and under enrolled in Esalen family workshops are $150 for weekend workshops and $300 for five-day workshops. Fees for youth 11-15 enrolled in Esalen family workshops are $420 for weekend workshops and $675 for five-day workshops. Parents/guardians pay regular accommodations fees.
