Deep Bodywork and Cortical Field Re-education (CFR) share the common goal of reconnecting our clients’ central nervous systems to our physical tissues in order to effect healing within the human bodymind. Although these two approaches appear different, they work powerfully together in solving chronic pain and movement dysfunction in cases requiring a broader approach. The slow, deep pressure applied to the myofascial characteristic of Deep Bodywork, and the light touch and organizing movement used in CFR, blend well to awaken latent, self-organizing mechanisms within the central nervous system capable of helping us learn and heal.
This class will focus on blending the approaches of Deep Bodywork and CFR in working with difficult cases. We will invite actual models dealing with chronic pain, movement dysfunction, and trauma-related symptoms to participate, working on them in front of the class, detailing what we are doing and why. We will then together assess our progress, with time for questions and group discussion.
This is an advanced course of study, for which previous bodywork experience is necessary. We highly recommend students have taken some of our other Deep Bodywork classes before registering.
