Join Yin/Insight Yoga and meditation teachers Sarah and Ty Powers for a five-day, partially silent retreat of inner practices and interpersonal awareness contemplations. Using yoga, pranayama, mindfulness, compassion meditation, and psycho-spiritual inquiry, this retreat will focus on a psychological approach to wholeness. As we focus our attention into the visible and veiled corners of the body and mind, we inevitably illuminate fresh ways of being and behaving. Each day will feature a balanced yoga session, several meditations, and contemplative dialogues with an interest in fortifying our ability to live with awareness.
Sarah’s classes will focus on the combination of inner (breath, energy channels and mind training) and outer (cohesion within the bones and muscles) alignment, as well as the process of bringing one’s full attention to the hara, or earth center, in the belly during postures.
Ty will be teaching morning and evening shamatha and insight meditation sessions. Shamatha, which means calm abiding, requires us to pay close attention to the present moment. This leaves us in a very open and aware state of being, which can then give rise to insights about how and why we approach our moments as we do.
Please come with at least one year of yoga experience and a strong interest in meditation and psycho-dynamic personal work. Also please bring a yoga mat.
