Many gay men grow up feeling alienated from homophobic religious institutions, beliefs, and misinformation. Yet at the same time, our needs for spiritual wholeness — community, meaning, and transcendence — may still be keenly felt. In recent years, a few progressive faith traditions have reevaluated their previous hostility to same-sex relationships. And many gay men have moved beyond the homophobic religious beliefs that oppressed us.
This workshop will help you reconsider and reclaim your own relationship to spirituality. We will provide some healing "missed experiences" and mindfulness practices that you are welcome to adapt to whatever resonates with your own beliefs. Our intention is to create a safe space for an open exploration of spiritual values, insights, and experience. Humanists and non-believers are welcome, too!
Through playful exercises using movement, mindfulness, and evocative imagery, we’ll build on our strengths, discover a joyful and playful side of gay men’s spirituality, and tap into the rich resources of our own internal wisdom.
