Traditionally, deep tissue modalities have been practiced and taught with a singular focus on organizing the body’s connective tissues. Rarely is there an emphasis on the relationship of the brain to the body’s structural components, which supports a deep exploration of body, mind, and soul. This seven-day experience with Perry and Johanna Holloman and Harriet Goslins proposes to teach Deep Bodywork as a modality capable of influencing our nervous system’s relationship to our body’s structural elements. Cortical Field Reeducation (CFR) utilizes brain plasticity: the capacity to learn and evolve throughout our lifetime. As we practice Deep Bodywork with this added perspective, we open our bodywork clients to deeper realms of potential self-organization and healing.
The kinesthetic exploration of CFR floor work will take us deeper into sensing our own body, enhancing our ability to compare the functional movement possibilities in a particular joint with the limitations in its twin. Simple, brief moves used at the end of a session will allow the brain to integrate the local changes into the global system before weight bearing and walking. Self-adjustment tools for your own release at the end of a workday will be included.
As the creators of their respective methods, Perry, Johanna, and Harriet collaborate to bring powerful aspects of these two forms together in a unique combination.
Note: This is an advanced course of bodywork study, which includes 8 hours of class time per day. The course is open to everyone, with preference given to those who have previous bodywork experience.
