All addictions are afflictions and all afflictions are addictions.
–Michael Brown, author of The Presence Process
Join leading addiction expert and best-selling author Dr. Gabor Maté for a five-day inquiry into who you are beneath the limiting beliefs you acquired during childhood – and then have acted out through addiction, physical illness, or mental/emotional distress.
Designed for those with addictive behaviors as well as their loved ones, this workshop will draw upon Dr. Maté’s decades of experience weaving together scientific research, case histories, and his own insights as a physician. He will guide you past the limitations of the dualistic Western medical view that separates your mind from your body.
Explore how addictive escapes and illness are generated by patterns of stress and unhappiness, and develop your capacity to undo these patterns by reconnecting with your authentic self. The key principle is that of compassionate curiosity: a non-judgmental investigation of yourself and the world.
Along with formal teaching, the workshop is grounded in intense group processing facilitated by Dr. Maté. It also incorporates Family Constellation work as well as movement and dance led by Andrea Davis, and mindfulness practice led by Katalin Kálmán.
