| Since the time of the ancient Greeks an almost unlimited number of stones of various colors, textures, and degrees of hardness have been used for artistic sculpture. We carry on this tradition at the Arts Center, employing carving, modeling, and assembly techniques to create beautiful works in classical and innovative styles. As the students work their way through layers of ageless stone they learn to give it shape and emotion. The essence of stone working is in revealing the sculpture within the stone.
