has danced with Gabrielle Roth from the time of her birth, and was born and raised in the Esalen community. She has been teaching 5Rhythms® since 1998. She also teaches Buddhist dharma in the lineage of Noah Levine, Jack Kornfield, and the forest masters of Thailand.
Energy moves in waves. Waves move in rhythms. Rhythms move in patters. Patterns move in cycles. A human being is just this. Nothing more. Nothing less. A dance.
Have you experienced loss and the natural emotions of sadness, anger, fear, and love? How do you process your losses and move through your life? Unfortunately, many of us have not found safe and effective ways to express these emotions, and we can feel stuck, both emotionally and at times physically, with the cumulative burden of our unfinished business.

The spontaneous heart is one that knows how to love and be loved. The 5Rhythms Heartbeat map is a guide to how our emotional energy moves and morphs. In this practice we embody the art of being a fluid, emotional athlete. This map teaches us how to navigate the emotional terrain of life without getting stuck, holding on, or pushing away.
The mask is a powerful tool for transformation. From behind the mask, the shy find their voice, the boisterous find a sense of calm, and the scattered find focus.
The 5Rhythms dance practice is a source of creative inspiration that invites you into present time awareness. You will be presented with a system of maps that demonstrate the patterns, rhythms, and cycles of life. In the nonjudgmental 5Rhythms atmosphere, we will learn how to bypass our inner critic-director-ego in order to dance and play from a deeper more soulful place.

“The gateway of the body is a powerful vessel that allows us to move and be moved,” says Lucia Horan. “Trance happens when we get out of the way enough for embodied presence to occur. When one simply gets out of the head and into the body, healing and transformation is possible. The 5Rhythms teaches us skills and tools to use in everyday life that help us facilitate this union. If we have the courage to move the body, the heart and mind can follow.
“Join us as we journey into the Moon Lodge, a weekend of tribal and ritual healing for women,” says Lucia Horan. “How empowered are you as a woman navigating this world? What is your relationship to the feminine and her wisdom?” Even today, many women do not feel the freedom to be fully empowered. The 5Rhythms is a direct path to embodiment and empowerment. By showing up in a practice of presence one can begin to clear the past and live fully in the present.

Experience the freedom and transformative power of self-expression through the catalytic practices of the 5Rhythms and Motion Theater. Motion Theater, a form of improvised autobiographical storytelling grounded in a lively physicality, simultaneously functions as performance art, healing method, and spiritual practice. The 5Rhythms is a dynamic moving meditation practice that invites us to embody our psyche and awaken our soul.

Joy and generosity are profoundly linked. In order for an authentic joy to be experienced, one must look closely at the relationship to generosity or the lack of its presence. All you have to do is, be willing to move. As you do so, it becomes possible to open the barriers, heal the past and find joy in the present.
