is a full-time Esalen® Massage practitioner/instructor and a yoga instructor. In addition to being a member of the Esalen massage crew, he has been teaching weekly yoga classes in the Esalen Movement Program since 2004. He teaches massage and yoga workshops at Esalen and abroad.
The healing art form of Esalen Massage has become a benchmark for contactful, caring, sensuous, and heartful touch. Created more than forty years ago at the Esalen baths, to the rhythms of the mighty Pacific Ocean, our practice remains timeless as it continues to evolve.
This workshop will introduce the core concepts of Esalen Massage. Through brief lectures and demonstrations, and with plenty of personal supervision of hands-on work, the workshop will present essential tools and information, including the long, balancing strokes and gentle stretches that are the foundation of Esalen massage. The principle elements of bodywork, including breath and sensory awareness practices, grounding, movement, and quality of contact will also be introduced and practiced, creating a firm foundation for learning massage.
This program is specifically designed to enhance the quality and experience in loving relationships through the sense of touch. Remaining aware of self while giving attention to another is a foundational practice for all sustainable relationships, and especially important in giving and receiving Esalen Massage.
