Faculty Spotlight - Caroline Harvey

Caroline Harvey

Caroline Harvey leads the country’s premier academic program for Slam Poetry & Spoken Word at Berklee College of Music, and she performs and teaches internationally in theatrical venues and healing arts destinations. Her work notably draws as much from Shakespeare as it does from punk rock; she is as influenced by Henry Rollins as she is by Robert Frost, and her workshops reflect this unique merging of the sacred and the scholarly with the irreverent and the cutting edge.

Caroline’s personal history brought her into adulthood feeling isolated, silenced, and disconnected from her truth. But when she went to her first Slam Poetry event, she was immediately compelled by the invitation to be unapologetically honest and alive. The study and practice of Spoken Word helped Caroline reclaim her voice and gave her the skills to stand fearlessly in her power. Now she is committed to creating safe and exciting spaces in which anyone, regardless of experience, can bask in the liberating gifts of Spoken Word.
