has led massage and somatic workshops at Esalen and internationally for more than 40 years. She is a founding member of the Esalen Massage School, practices Gestalt awareness work, and participated in Esalen’s two-year somatic education program. She is also a licensed psychotherapist.

Multiple cultures, including Japanese, Israeli, Turkish, German, and Californian, have studied the healing benefits of water. Instructor Barbara Braunstein will share her hydrotherapy know-how of hot, cold, and comfort, and how she infuses her knowledge into each one of her massage sessions. Barbara offers hydrotherapy theory and methods, and Brita Ostrom will put this information to use in the flowing signature connection of Esalen Massage.
